I have to admit this is probably now my favourite story by Cardeno C because for me it had all the vital elements fitting together in such a short story.
Cardeno C tells great stories. They're sexy, sweet, moreish and satisfying and that's why they get high ratings from me. A Cardeno book is my go to happy place when I want to read something really feel good. ...I always know that I'm going to get loveable characters, a great (hot) romance, a well thought out back story, just the right amount of conflict to stop the story going into the realms of saccharine, tummy rolling love scenes and last but not least; the perfect happy ever after that never fails to leave me sighing happily. ...I'm getting really enamoured with these recent paranormal, shifter books that Cardeno has started writing and the 'Mates' series is turning out to be a very addictive read. ...There was a fulfilling build up of sexual tension but this was when the passion and romance side of the story came into it's own and as always it was pure Cardeno magic.... The chemistry between them sparked, the heat level reached boiling point and the sex was cold shower worthy, but still, always bolstered by a real sense of romance and love.
I thoroughly enjoyed the way this book was told....It really was engaging as well as refreshing. From the start of the story I was completely invested in Charlie's journey... This story brought out a lot of emotions in me. Charlie goes through a lot and I couldn't help but feel for him every step of the way during his journey. Love, heartbreak, anger, sadness are just some of the things I felt while I sat here listening to Charlie talk about his life. You really do feel like you are listening to his story vs reading it because you start to look at Charlie as your friend. I know sounds crazy right but really it was just so well written the pages come to life.
McFarland's Farm by Cardeno C. is a light, angst free novella. The story has very little conflict and when misunderstandings do arise, they are quickly resolved. The characters are well-developed with realistic insecurities and flaws. The romance is believable and the sex scenes are incredibly hot. All in all, it is a wonderful first installment in the Hope series that will leave fans eagerly awaiting future releases.
This journey was well worth the read and one I would recommend t any and all M/M romance lovers.
