Charlie “Chase” Rhodes
It’s funny how when you’re a kid you think you have it all figured out. You think you know who you’re going to be when you grow up, what you’re going to do. And yet, you can’t actually see yourself as a grown-up. I mean, grown-ups are old. And they’re constantly saying shit we think we’ll never say and doing shit we think we’ll never do.
When I think back to how many times I said I’d never do this and I’d never say that, I want to cringe. Because you know what? I do all of it now.
Just this morning, when I was getting the kids off to school and they were fighting with each other over who got to hold a spatula—yeah, I know—I told them to stop talking to each other. No, really, I did. This was me: “Bobby, Stephi! You…
Can I just say O.M.G. Cardeno took a concept that should never have worked and not only made it work, but made it work well. ... There are some very touching moments that we can all remember from our youth ... some will pull on your heart strings; some will make you so ANGRY you want to scream; and some will make you laugh so loudly you will disturb anyone within a mile radius of you while you are reading them. But what they all do is tell the love story these three men share over two decades. They all end up going their own way, but fate has a way of making decisions for us that we would never have expected. This isn't the average M/M/M story. In my opinion, this is a very unique take on the concept and it just works. ... I think this is one of Cardeno C.'s best works, and I have never laughed as hard as I did while reading the scene about the lentils. That was just brilliant! If you have liked Cardeno's work in the past, I think you will love this one. I know I did.
I loved these guys. ... they all had great chemistry together and were super hot! ...this story was really about love and hope, and showed how people grow and change. There were times that my heart absolutely broke for them, but I think that everything worked out how it was supposed to and I loved seeing how far they had all come. I really believed that the relationship between the three of them was about love and that all of them fit well together with no jealousy between them. Often times with a menage it can end up feeling as though someone is left out sometimes or that it is not quite even with the feelings, but I didn't feel that way at all with this story. I think it really helped that both of them had loved and lost Charlie before, and they weren't about to let that happen again. They went out of their way to show him that he was their missing piece, and it just worked for me. I would definitely recommend this one if you are a M/M fan and like menage stories.
A family size package of Double Stuf Oreo cookies - that's what this book reminded me of. For me, that equates to a package full of pure bliss. And, as if one helping were not enough, I had to gorge myself with a second (or in this case, an immediate re-read)! ... I dare you not to fall in love with Charlie - in fact, I'll double dare you... Those two cookie shells need the fluffy center - it's the only thing that makes them complete. And those three pieces together? A little taste of heaven on earth! ... While it may seem logical to expect sadness in a story involving splits, this is not a sad story. Yes, there is clearly some pain involved, but the story doesn't dwell in those areas. The author keeps things moving along and you can't help but look forward to the next chapter in their lives. ... So, yeah, a family size package of Double Stuf Oreo cookies - that's what this book is all about. Grab the package and be a glutton. It's more than worth it!
In many ways this book shows a development of an already great talent. This story is smooth, the writing is clear, concise and beautiful. The shifts between times and voices was flawless and creatively done. The plot pulled me in and carried me along on a journey of first loves, loss, second chances, forgiveness, personal growth and what it means to truly love someone and want to create a life with them. I loved everything about this book. There was not one false note. Charlie "Chase" is an absolute delight. ... He's a dancer and a bit of a dreamer who has had to make his own way in the world and even though Scott and Adan each took a turn at breaking his heart, they could never break him nor forget him. Scott is great. ...He is the perfect first love and I fell in love with him right along with Charlie. ... Adan was complicated. He was so damaged by his macho culture upbringing with a huge chip on his shoulder and a drive to succeed professionally that left little room for much else in his life. I loved how he was with his men. He saw and remembered everything about them, he understood them. He, of all of them, grew the most in this story. In the most delightful and beautiful ways. ...Honestly, I was a little nervous going into this triad story. But I trust Cardeno C to get me to a happy ending. I knew…
