If you like stories about men who try to redefine their places in life when they meet, if you enjoy a nice twist or two, and if you're looking for a read with characters who are as passionate as they are loving, then you will probably like this book.

Cardeno C and Mary Calmes are both amazing authors and combined they have written and story that is sensual and yet gritty. There is something to be said for a story that is not predictable and these characters are definitely anything but easy to figure out. The story itself is not the usual fare and it is great to read about characters that don't just fall into an easy relationship. The fact that they each have to learn about themselves on their way to learning about the other person made for a story that seems so much more realistic. This was without question a story that was crafted by two amazingly talented authors in a way that is not the average story.

Zach is a very angry and hurt young man, although I doubt he would admit to either emotion. Since he left home when they emotionally abandoned him for being gay, he doesn't believe in relationships, he doesn't kiss - that's too intimate, he wants nothing to do with his home town, he barely keeps in touch with his brother, he is OUT and PROUD and will take offense at any little slight he imagines. ... It was so beautiful to watch Zach as he realized that Aaron needed him in so many ways. No one has ever taken care of Aaron, but Zach can. Zach can be that one person that gives back to Aaron as much as he gives to Zach. Watching them find and make their own family was such fun for me... Thank you, Cardeno, for another insanely wonderful story that reminded me of the important things in life.

I absolutely loved this story and Zev and Jonah have joined my list of favorite couples. Their love story was, on the one hand, amazingly sweet having begun as babies essentially, and on the other hand, hotter than hot as they waited through all those years to be together. I can't recommend this book enough. If you love shifters, then this is the story for you.

Oooh, I just loved this one you guys! ...What is so wonderful about The Half of Us is the way author Cardeno C really elevates the story beyond just this fears commitment/wants a relationship dynamic in a way that makes for a fascinating story and wonderful characters. ...Jason doesn't see a future for himself with anyone long term and it never occurs to him he can have that. But as the relationship with Abe slowly builds, Jason goes with it. ...It scares him sometimes, and definitely surprises him, but Jason goes with it in a way that is really appealing. What also makes this work so well is the complexity of both of these characters. ....Jason comes across arrogant and quick tempered, but he is also so warm and loving underneath. He dotes on Abe, he is caring with his ex-wife, and he is determined to make a relationship with his kids. For his part, Abe is also more than he seems at first. ...What is interesting about Abe is that deep down, there is a much wilder side to him than he lets out. ...There is this wonderful undercurrent of dirtiness between them, of hard, intense, messy sex that makes both of them crazy. ...The men are crazy hot together and it is so much fun to see them really explore both of their desires....I just adored Abe and loved him and Jason together.
